Server Configuration

The Server Configuration Portal allows you to configure server security and set automatic project backups.

This portal is not located within the Expert Estimation application itself.

AUTHENTICATION

When accessing the Server Configuration Portal you will be required to login through your browser using your Domain credentials.

This performs authentication on user credentials to identify if they have the privileges to access the portal by having an Expert Estimation User Profile with the privileges enabled, or if they are an administrator.

There are two ways to login by clicking the Sign in with current Domain Account button or by entering the username, password and domain and clicking the Sign In button.

Refer to the Server Configuration - Users article on authenticating users when accessing Expert Estimation on a server with Security enabled.

DETAILS

These detail fields are for another user who is not logged into the current machine. They can enter their credentials and the Domain name to login.

SIGN IN WITH CURRENT DOMAIN ACCOUNT

This is the default option that users will need to access Expert Estimation. This will use the current user's Windows account details to login.

SERVER CONFIGURATION PORTAL

The Server Configuration Portal can be reached by right-clicking the server icon that sits in the bottom right-hand corner of the application and selecting Open Server Configuration Portal. Once selected, your default web browser will open to display the Portal.

Supported browsers are Windows Edge and Google Chrome.

Alternatively, the Server Configuration Portal can be accessed from your default browser by navigating to either of the following addresses on the server machine itself:

From the remote machine it can be accessed by entering:

Where Hostname is the URL or Domain name for the machine hosting the server.

To access the Server Configuration Portal remotely, the user must have privileges to see the portal and the network is setup to allow remote access.

Newer versions of Expert Estimation utilise a self-signed certificate for the https:// connection to allow for secure communication between the server and browser.

When accessing the portal via the https:// connection for the first time, you will receive a warning in the browser window stating that the connection is not private.

This is expected because of the self-signed certificate, and clicking on the Advanced option will allow you to proceed to the configuration portal.

SERVER CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

From within the Server Configuration Portal, you can set Server Options, Create User profiles and specify who has access to the Server Configuration Portal. You can also Group these users together and Assign Privileges to groups on a project or folder basis. Finally you can enable and configure the Automatic Backup Options and also view the currently Connected Users.

Note: Some functionality of the Server Configuration portal will not load in any version of Internet Explorer.
