The Penalty Rate Classifications window allows the creation of factors to be used as multipliers to the standard pay rate for a shift. A Penalty Rate can be defined as an increased rate of pay for overtime or for work performed under abnormal conditions.

When a Penalty Rate and Factor have been defined they are displayed as a column in the Template Calendar window and used for entering hours of each penalty rate worked in a shift. The factors are then used in calculating the equivalent ordinary hours worked.

Some Penalty Rates that are typically included for reference in template calendars are time-and-a-half with a factor of 1.5, double-time with a factor of 2.

The Ordinary Penalty Rate is automatically included and cannot be edited or deleted. This represents the normal hours worked for a cycle without extra penalty rates applied.
