Overhead Cost Schedule – Ribbon Menu

The contextual ribbon menu for the Overhead Cost Schedule allows access to all of the related functions, such as the ability to add, remove and modify Overhead Cost items.

A number of functions found in the ribbon menu can also be found in the right-click context menu.

GENERAL GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Paste
Ctrl + V

Clicking the Paste button will insert the information from the clipboard into a new line, above the selected line.

When data is copied from an external application, the Paste Special window will be displayed allowing you to map into which columns the copied information is to be pasted.

Paste Cell
Ctrl + Shift + V

Pastes information from the clipboard into the cells specified.

The Paste Cell button is available from the sub-menu underneath the Paste button.

Paste Cost Estimate
Ctrl + Alt + V

Appends the Cost Estimate information in the clipboard to the end of the specified item’s Cost Estimate.

This function is available when the clipboard contains Cost Estimate information and the selected cost schedule line(s) are unfinished.

Copy
Ctrl + C

Clicking the Copy button will copy the selected items to the clipboard.

This allows for the data to be pasted within Expert Estimation or to an external application.

Undo
Ctrl + Z

Clicking the Undo button reverses the last change made to the data.

Redo
Ctrl + Y

The Redo button becomes available when an undo action is performed and is used to reverse the undo action.

Properties
Alt + Enter

The Properties button will open the Properties pane on the right-hand side of the window.

This will display the details of the currently selected Schedule items and give you the ability to edit multiple items at once.

Notes
Ctrl + N

Any items that require an extra reference or notation can have these details entered by clicking the Notes button.

This will open a panel in the bottom half of the window, which provides you with the ability to record multiple notes or references against an item.

ITEM FORMATTING GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Bold
Ctrl + B

Bold will toggle the bolding property for the currently selected lines.

Italicize
Ctrl + I

Italicize will toggle the Italicize property for the currently selected lines.

Underline
Ctrl + U

Underline will toggle the Underline property for the currently selected lines.

Highlight
Ctrl + H

Applying a highlight to better distinguish items can be done by clicking the Highlight button.

The highlight colour is customized by clicking the arrow to the right of the text and choosing a new colour.

Clicking the function again will remove the formatting.

EDITING GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Insert Schedule Item
Ctrl + Insert

Inserts a new line above the specified line in the Cost Estimate window.

Insert Multiple Schedule Items
Ctrl + Shift + Insert

Opens a dialogue window that allows you to choose the number of lines to insert above the current position in the Overhead Cost Schedule.

The Insert Multiple Estimate Lines button can be accessed by clicking the arrow underneath the Insert Schedule Item button.

Add Schedule Item
Ctrl + Shift + =

Clicking the Add Schedule Item button will append a new item at the end of the Overhead Cost Schedule Window.

This function can be accessed by clicking the arrow underneath the Insert Schedule Item button.

Remove Schedule Item
Ctrl + Del

Deletes the selected line from the Schedule.

Items that have been removed cannot be restored after the window is closed.

View Cost Estimate
Ctrl + E

Opens the Cost Estimate window for the item that is currently selected.

This button will only be available if the item has a quantity.

View Resource Cost Estimate
Ctrl + Shift + E

Opens the Group Resource Cost Estimate for the selected item, allowing for the cost build up to be viewed or modified.

This button is only available if the selected item contains a Group Resource and is accessed from the sub-menu underneath the View Cost Estimate button.

Item Resource Properties
Ctrl + R

Opens the Edit Resource dialogue, displaying the primary resource properties for the selected item. This button is only available if the selected Overhead Cost Schedule item contains a Base Resource.

Allowing for certain details of a resource to be edited without accessing the Resource Explorer window.

Clone Item's Resource
Ctrl + Alt + R

The Clone function allows for the creation of an alternative Resource based off the resource currently assigned to an Overhead Cost Schedule item. Once complete, the new resource is applied to the Overhead Cost Schedule item.

This button is only available if the selected item contains a Resource.

Data Relay
Alt + R

Initiates the Data Relay processing for project Cost Schedule Items, allowing you to populate you project data from another known project detail.

Go To Line
Ctrl + G

Go To Line allows for immediate navigation to the line number that is entered in the dialogue box.

SUBITEM GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Indent Item
Ctrl + Right arrow

The Indent Item button indents the selected Overhead Cost Schedule Items under the immediately preceding line number. If the preceding line number has a quantity this will make the Overhead Cost Schedule Item a child item.

Outdent Item
Ctrl + Left arrow

The Outdent Item function will retract the currently selected Overhead Cost Schedule Items from their current level and reduce their hierarchy by one level.

If the selected items are already on the top most level, this function will not be available.

PROPERTIES GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Unfinish
Ctrl + 1

Clicking the Unfinish button will change the item state of the selected Overhead Cost Schedule Item to Unfinished.

By default, Estimated Rates and Totals cannot be viewed for unfinished items, but may be enabled in the Project Properties – Calculations window.

Check
Ctrl + 2

Clicking the Check button will change the item state of the selected Overhead Cost Schedule Item to Checked.

When the item state is set to Checked, certain Overhead Cost Schedule properties and the Cost Estimate associated with the item cannot be changed without first switching item to Unfinished.

Finish
Ctrl + 3

Clicking the Finish button will change the item state of the selected Overhead Cost Schedule Item to Finished.

When the item state is set to Finished, certain Overhead Cost Schedule properties and the Cost Estimate associated with the item cannot be changed without first switching item to Unfinished.

Excluded
Ctrl + 4

Clicking the Excluded button will change the selected item’s excluded property.

When an Overhead Cost Schedule item is excluded, it is exempt from any project calculation, however, it will still be present on the Overhead Cost Schedule in a transparent state.

DISPLAY GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Add Unit Total Column

Opens a sub-menu that allows for the addition of summary columns for specified units.

The displayed value for a Unit Total column will be the total usage of the resources that have the specific unit selected.

Genesis and Express editions only.

Add Unit Rate Column

Displays a sub-menu that allows you to add summary columns for specific units to the Overhead Cost Schedule window.

The displayed value for a Unit Rate column will be the total usage of the resources that have the specific unit selected divided by the Overhead Cost Schedule Items quantity.

Genesis and Express editions only.

Restore Layout

If columns have been removed, adjusted or relocated, clicking the Restore Layout button will restore columns to their default layout.

NAVIGATION GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

Create

Pressing the Create button opens a sub-menu that allows you to create other project elements that relate to the selected Overhead Cost Schedule items.

Take Off Set
Ctrl + Alt + T

Within the Create sub-menu, there is an option to create a new Take Off Set quickly. The creation process is the same as if you were within the Take Off Sets window. However, upon creation, the new Take Off Set Calculation Sheet is opened to allow quick editing.

Go to Definition
Ctrl + Shift + G

Navigates to the define referenced on a line.

Note: This opens another tab where the Define is registered such as Global Defines or Take Off Defines.

If there is more then one Define on the line, this will open the Navigate to Define Source window, where a single define can be chosen and viewed.

Go to Resource
Ctrl + Shift + R

The Go to Resource button will open the Resource Explorer and filter the grid to display the resource currently used on the selected item.

REPORTS GROUP

DESCRIPTION

Overhead Cost Summary

Prints the Overhead Cost Summary Report for the currently Selected items.

Overhead Cost Estimates

Prints the Overhead Cost Estimates Report for the currently Selected items.

HELP GROUP

NAME

DESCRIPTION

SavvyHelp
F1

Clicking the SavvyHelp button will open the SavvyHelp pane on the right of the window.

This will display useful information about the window as well as details for the columns available.
